It’s not natural to latch on to a different point of view and hence we naturally latch on to something we relate to or believe it.

I think it also depends on what stage are we doing Research is. In the initial exploratory stage, we are more open to different views in contrast to say evaluative stage where it's more of validating what we have built and hence we look for signals which are in our favour.
